Peter Pan’s Been Drinking

Standard

After leaving Las Vegas, I stopped in Boulder City, NV to see the Toilet Paper Hero of Hoover Dam statue. (Read about my visit to the statue here: http://www.rubbertrampartist.com/2015/11/09/toilet-paper-hero-of-hoover-dam/.) I parked my van almost directly in front of a statue of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell by Mary Zimmerman.

Of course, I decided to take some photos of this statue too.

This photo shows Peter Pan just the way he lives in my imagination: the tunic, the tights, the collar, the upturned shoes, the youthful grin.

But wait. Why does Tinkerbell look so pissed off? Hands on hips, head thrown back, her body language shows she’s not very happy with Peter. What is going on here?

Doesn’t Peter look a little glassy-eyed? Isn’t his grin a little sillier than it should be?

When I walked around behind Peter, I got my answer. Peter Pan’s been drinking! Dude, before I walked up, he was sipping a Miller High Life, and he left the evidence right back there. I guess even a Lost Boy who will never grow up sometimes likes to drink like a man.

(I did not stage these photos in any way. I shot the scene just as I found it.)
